Teen Accused Of Killing Parents,Then Having Party Denied Bond

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A 17-year-old boy accused of killing his parents with a hammer in their Port St. Lucie home and then hiding their bodies in a bedroom while he hosted a house party had been denied bond

Tyler Hadley made his initial court appearance Tuesday morning. He is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the death of his parents, Blake and Mary Jo Hadley.
Port St. Lucie police spokesman Tom Nichols said officers received an anonymous tip that a teenager had killed his parents and left their bodies inside the home on Granduer Avenue. Nichols said officers conducted a welfare check and found the bodies on the floor of their locked bedroom early Sunday morning.
Nichols said there were books, towels and other household items piled on top of the bodies in a “deliberate attempt to conceal the bodies inside the room.” He said a hammer that was used to bludgeon the couple to death was found lying between the bodies.
Police said the high school dropout sent a Facebook invitation to friends about a party at his house Saturday night. Police said 40 to 60 teens attended the party, which lasted into the early-morning hours Sunday.

A message posted at 1:15 p.m. Saturday on Hadley’s Facebook page reads, “party at my crib tonight……maybe.” Then, another message posted exactly seven hours later at 8:15 p.m. reads, “party at my house hmu (hit me up).”
Police said Hadley’s parents were killed before the party.

Detectives Continue To Scour Crime Scene

Detectives were back at the house Tuesday gathering more evidence from the crime scene.
Nichols said he couldn’t speak about the particular details of what they’re looking for, “but they are looking for evidence of the crime.”

Crumpled beer cans in the grass were remnants of the party that took place days earlier.

“They were moving pretty quickly and throwing bottles out the windows,” neighbor Tiffany Mitchell said of guests at the party.
A motive for the killings remains unknown because Nichols said Hadley “made no incriminating statements” to detectives.
Meanwhile, neighbors are trying to figure out why Hadley would kill his parents in such a brutal manner. Adam Gibbs said he “didn’t really know him too much, but he was sort of shallow.”
Police haven’t said if any of the partygoers saw the bodies or knew they were in the home at the time.
Jail officials said Hadley is on suicide watch.
