The San Diego police investigation into an alleged incident between basketball star Kobe Bryant and a young man at a Carmel Valley church has hit a snag: The man has told police that he will not be available to be interviewed until Aug. 24.
The 21-year-old has filed a report with police saying he suffered a slight wrist sprain when Bryant grabbed his cellphone from him.
The Lakers star allegedly was annoyed because he thought the man was taking his picture during services at St. Therese of Carmel Church on Sunday. Seeing that there were no pictures on phone, Bryant gave it back, according to the man.
Police will not interview Bryant until they have had a chance to interview the alleged victim, a spokesman said.
The young man, through a representative, told police that he will not be available for interview until Aug. 24 for reasons that were not revealed.
The priest and other officials at the church have refused to comment on the alleged incident.
