During his visit to Argentina today the President Martelly will not meet the Presidente Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, the latter is in the southern province of Santa Cruz for family reasons. Therefore, Martelly will meet with the Cabinet Chief of the President, Aníbal Fernández.
The Chief of Staff should receive the Haitian leader at the Government Palace, where they will sign an agreement for the expansion of the program Pro Huerta, which helped to create in the Caribbean countries around 12,500 gardens that provide the livelihood for 90,000 people, the goal is to extend this figure to 4 million people, declared a few days ago the Director of International Cooperation of Argentina, Julia Levy.
Argentina also supports the operation of the Technical Secretariat Unasur-Haiti, Port-au-Prince installed as part of the assistance of $100 million that the South American countries have promised to Haiti after January 12, 2010.
During the visit of Martelly, the Argentine government will reiterates its presence in the Caribbean country through humanitarian assistance and its participation in actions to preserve the security and of maintenance of peace that realizes the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minsutah).
Anibal Fernandez and Michel Martelly will also discuss on the mission that Argentina preparing for the end of this month, in order to evaluate the projects ; of community education, in the sports field for integrates youth at risk, as well as in the area of micro-finance in Haiti.
After the meeting, the Chief of Staff of Argentina and the Haitian leader will attend a luncheon at the Museum of the Bicentennial, the Casa Rosada, seat of government.
After January 12, 2010, the government of Argentina has donated to Haiti 35 tonnes of maize and beans seed, 600 sets of tools and 5000 training manuals. These seeds have been distributed to 17,000 families in six departments (Artibonite, Centre, North, Northeast, West and South-East).
